When I was a young girl, I didn’t have the best self esteem. It’s hard to fit in when you’re taller than everyone else and the boys are all interested in your friends, but never you. I was smart, funny and beautiful, but the hurtful words of other kids and the images I saw in advertising clouded my perception of myself. It wasn’t until after college that I really started to love and appreciate everything that I am. I know I’m not the only one who has gone through this and I know there are millions of girls and women who are still going through this today. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to give back to the community and find a way to raise the self esteem of others through my photography.
So I created the Amazing Female Program.
Why Amazing Females? Because as a society we need to celebrate those who do great things and let them know they are appreciated. We need to let girls know that getting straight A’s or doing well in sports makes them beautiful. We need to let young women know that volunteering their time to help others or landing their first job is an accomplishment worth celebrating. We need to let our aunts, moms and sisters know that when they beat cancer or start their own business they are incredible.
I’m looking for amazing females ages 9 and up. Each woman or girl will receive a photo shoot from Kimberly April Photography, a feature in the Newsletter, an interview on the Blog and a few other surprises. Think about those amazing females in your life and nominate them by sending an email to Kimberly@kimberlyapril.com! Currently, photo shoots will only be available to Southern California residents/visitors, but out of area nominees are still accepted.
