Welcome to

Bohemian Backyard Wedding ~ Althea & David

A bohemian wedding at a historic home in Orange County.

When David and Althea started planning their wedding, it was important to them that every detail had a personal touch.

The decor was all handmade and every vendor was a personal friend.

I used to work with David and I was so honored when he called to ask if I would photograph his and Althea’s wedding.

The day started with David and a couple of his groomsmen at the barber shop, Hair by Ricardo, where Anna trimmed David’s beard.

At the same time at a historic home in Santa Ana, Althea was getting ready with her bridesmaids.

Bohemian-Bride-with-hennaAlthea made floral crowns and unique, crystal jewelry for each bridesmaid which looked amazing with the henna on their hands!

She also wore her grandfather’s ring.

After having a quiet moment together at Santiago Park, David and Althea headed back to the house to get married under the wooden arch they made together.

To the peaceful sound of a single wooden flute, Althea walked down the aisle to join David.

During their beautifully spiritual ceremony, David and Althea’s friend, Simon, spoke about love, nature and the joining of two souls in the universe.

After the ceremony, Althea’s nephews couldn’t wait to give her hugs to officially welcome her to the family!

Speaking of family, I love this picture of David with his mom.

Althea’s mom was overcome with love all day.

She’s a park ranger in Maui and LOVES to take pictures.  It was so much fun chatting with her about how I used to be a park ranger too.

That beard!

We had to show off the sun shining on David’s beard!

Thanks to dance lessons at Bella Ballroom, their first dance to Pistol by Dustin Kensrue was perfection!

Did someone say, “Cake?”

This mini DJ in training spent an hour just watching the DJ and asking questions.

His patience was rewarded with a chance to run the dance floor!

David and Althea, it brought me so much joy to be a part of your wedding.

The personal touches were filled with so much love and I’m so happy to see the two of you joined together in marriage.
