There were so many events this year that took my breath away.
I can’t even tell you how many times I called my mom excited to tell her what I photographed that day.
Yes, I still do that.
Here are my favorite Event Photography Moments of 2016.
The year kicked off in an amazing way with Marta & Raj’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Party at Shady Canyon Golf Club. The event was designed and coordinated by The Fashionable Event and she brought in the best of everything! Flowers from White Lilac, Cristal Champagne, gorgeous mirrors and perfect rose gold decor.
The exquisite events continued with private home parties in Newport Beach, Newport Coast and Pelican Hill. I even spent two days in Los Angeles photographing for AFI and was given the opportunity to celebrate John Williams at the Lifetime Achievement Awards.
This year also came with a lot of celebrity sightings. While photographing for Fortune at the Most Powerful Women Summit over the course of 3 days I photographed Kate Hudson, Barbara Streisand and numerous incredible women who are changing the world. I also had a total girl moment when meeting Sam Palladio (Gunner on Nashville) backstage at a Carole King concert at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. By girl moment, I mean being professional while chatting with him and then having a huge, cheesy grin while bonding with the other women that were just as excited as I was.
Speaking of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, I absolutely loved photographing a variety of events there in 2016. From meet & greets to intimate dinner parties and large galas. I am so thankful every time they ask me to work with them.
Even though I photographed more events than ever this year, I still found time to volunteer with my two favorite organizations; Girls Inc. of Orange County and the Huntington Beach Senior Center. I ended 2015 decorating the old Huntington Beach Senior Center for their annual New Years Eve Party and had the honor of photographing their Volunteer Recognition Sneak Peak of the new Huntington Beach Senior Center. It’s an incredible facility and the seniors of HB are so deserving of it.
For the past few years I’ve been volunteering with Girls Inc. of Orange County by donating photography services at their events. This year not only did I donate photography for their YESS and Champions for Girls Luncheons, I also spent 2 days at Orange Coast College teaching a room full of 8th graders photography. The class was called, “From Selfies to Self-Portraits” and included a little workbook, classroom instruction and hands on experience with cameras outdoors. Each girl walked away from the class with a printed 8×10 of themselves that they created.
Thank you to all the amazing vendors, organizations and clients I worked with this year. This is not a complete list, but I want to give a little shout out to you.
